The Nordica Doberman SLR DC FDT boasts a superb textured “golf ball” type surface, with a beautiful “Doberman” inlay – a look that is both very classy and aggressive. One might expect a dominant, biting ski, but that’s not entirely the case, as the Nordica Doberman SLR DC FDT remains very easy to ski; some testers even described it as gentle in its effects. It filters a lot, not transmitting much feedback to the legs. It glides quietly on hard snow. The magnificent rounded tip taps a bit but doesn’t compromise stability. This tip allows for a very quick entry into turns.
The pivot is almost instantaneous, and you find the edge almost immediately. The tail naturally supports the skier. The Nordica Doberman SLR DC FDT launches and unfolds on beautiful radii that can be varied according to one’s preferences. On not too steep blue slopes, you can lengthen or shorten the radius without any problem. When the slope becomes steeper, you need to ski it accurately; otherwise, it might lose a bit of its fantastic ease, grip, and brilliance on the edge.
If you want to make very aggressive angulations, you can push it quite far. You can ski with your feet quite far apart. It’s not, of course, the most powerful ski in the world; you need to keep some reserve, but for a skier who moves at fast but not insane speeds, the Nordica Doberman SLR DC FDT remains highly recommended. A larger skier might find the tip not necessarily very solid, but for others, the very smooth flex and the ski’s structure are remarkable. No hard points.
On very hard, steep slopes, it doesn’t helicopter, behaving very soundly. It never takes your feet from under you. The metallic tips on the tip are beautiful.
For a skier who wants to enjoy themselves on hard snow, on relatively short radii. An accessible ski, very pleasant to maneuver, and visually stunning. Superb.
