It is without doubt the reference on the market for a mid-size face. These goggles are neither too big nor too small. It has a fighter pilot’s visor shape with amazing attention to detail: we tested the blue lens. The lens quality is incredible and the fact that there is barely an obvious structure holding the lens, you can hardly see the plastic which gives this amazing 180° vision. The vision from top to bottom is excellent. Neither the lens or the frame suffered any misting up, even in the extreme testing conditions which we endured beginning of the season: rain mixed with snow, and going in and out of high altitude restaurants and using the gondola lifts.
It was nice to not have to clean the inside of the mask all the time and to take advantage of the lens 100% of the time. This is important to point out because a previous pair of goggles from the same brand and we weren’t totally satisfied, especially in damp conditions. This Oakley Prizm Flight Deck XM has excellent ventilation. The triple thickness foam with different densities ensures good contact with your face that isn’t too tight. The third foam layer, the densest, folds slightly after several weeks and air can filter in at cheek level. Be careful because as the lens is convex (the lens support structure is on the inside of the goggles) when carrying your skis on your shoulders so that you don’t bang them against the non protected lens.
The same goes for the safety bars on chair lifts if you put your goggles on top of your helmet, etc. We used these goggles for two months every day, it doesn’t seem fragile, we even packed it into our backpacks just in its protective fabric bag, and there are no scratches or marks. In sunny weather the lens is still efficient and so you can use it in a very wide spectrum of conditions. The strap is wide, and quite thick (it could be a little more supple). It stays in place on a helmet or beanie thanks to the elastomer inserts. This is a reference in technical materials and in look. A classy object and well finished.
