We tested this single positioning lanyard over a long period of time in all climbing situations (mountains, cliffs). Combined with the usage of their Spirit SL karabiner it became more and more indispensable the more we used it. A rubber ring on the karabiner holds it all in the correct position. You are able to attach yourself to the length you desire for optimum positioning. It is comfortable and performs well under the belay (or any other point during the route).
To bring yourself closer to the belay anchor and therefore shorten it, it functions simply, intuitively and fluidly. You just pull on the free end with one hand.
To distance yourself from the belay anchor you need a little more coordination and practice. Despite the good ergonomics of the ADJUST mechanical blocker you need to get the hang of moving it with one hand and sliding the rope at the same time. Once suspended completely on the lanyard any blocking maneuver is impossible without releasing tension on the end linked to the harness (by a lark’s head knot).
For shorter statures, it’s best to avoid going to the maximum suspended distance as the mechanism and free end can be difficult to catch hold of.
NB: this lanyard must not be used outside of its domain of use even if the EPI norm is a wide guarantee for its function (via ferrata prohibited).
This simple, adjustable, and safe single positioning lanyard should quickly find its place in every climbers pack.
