These sunglasses are designed for triathlon, MTB, road cycling and running.
They weigh a mere 29g and you can easily forget you’re wearing them.
The field of vision is very wide, almost panoramic. There isn’t any frame on the bottom part of the glasses and so the panoramic effect is accentuated even more. If there are any drops of sweat sliding down the lenses they can escape by sliding right off.
We tested the Tralyx Slim Yellow Fluo Gloss with a yellow nose piece, and we could see it reflected in the lens. There isn’t any distortion or color changes when moving your head up and down. We tested them at altitude in the snow at 3000m and the solar protection is very high performance, which is interesting as we still don’t know what the UV rating is for these glasses because it is not indicated in the information booklet or on the website. Which is strange as it is a crucial piece of information for sun glasses.
We were impressed by the overall toughness of the product, both the frame and lens. This is due to the flexibility of the materials: Grilamid for the frame and flexible lens.
The lens has been aerodynamically researched, streams of air flow stop any fogging up in the lens or making your eyes water. Only people with very large faces may find that the glasses do not cover enough. The air can pass under the lens near your cheeks. Exist in Regular et XL version to adapt to any faces.
The frame is ventilated for air flow but also to reduce weight. They also seem to help with the flexibility of the product. As the lens is not attached to the exterior part of the frame the frame can adapt easily to the form of your face, they bend a little. Even if the arms are supple and adaptable we did find that after a while there was a slight discomfort. We think it’s because the arms separate on the outer side and the plastic stops aren’t soft enough. It is even more noticeable if you wear a helmet.
The Rudy Project Tralyx Slim sit well on your face. We have seen other products with a better use of materials.
The lens can be changed, you can order them online on their website and it is very easy to change. The lens is photochromic and polarized. The Tralyx Slim is delivered in a very good protective case. The Rudy Project products are manufactured in Italy since 1985.
We found the Rudy Project Tralyx Slim to be very good for triathlon and biking.
The lens quality is exceptional and manufacture faultless. It is only the discomfort of the extremity of the arms that could cause discussions, depending on morphology.
