Ce sac RAB Khroma 30 L est prévu pour le ski de randonnée mais il peut clairement être utilisé en freeride.
The RAB Khroma 30L backpack is designed primarily for ski touring, but it easily proves itself suitable for freeride use as well. Right out of the gate, it impresses with its light weight — just 1220 grams — and its comfort. The design reflects a minimalist approach, but without compromising on functionality. With a generous volume for a full-day outing, it offers enough space to carry a helmet, ice axe, shovel, probe, and all essential gear.
When it comes to ski carry, the pack offers a few options. Skis can be attached laterally — although this isn’t the most stable method — or, preferably, diagonally across the back of the pack. This diagonal setup works best when the pack is fully loaded to help distribute weight evenly and prevent pressure points against the back. Despite its light structure, the Khroma 30L carries well, as long as it isn’t overloaded. The wide hip belt helps stabilize the load and minimize unwanted movement. Strap adjustment is smooth and easy — a real plus when transitioning quickly in the field.
The semi-rigid back panel is another key strength. It moves fluidly with the skier’s body while also providing a degree of back protection. The back panel fully unzips to reveal a large main compartment, which is separate from a dedicated avalanche safety gear pocket. This safety pocket is marked with a bright orange zip, making it easy to find in an emergency. All zippers and straps are designed to be operated one-handed, even while wearing gloves — a thoughtful touch that reflects attention to real-world use.
The left side of the hip belt includes a gear loop, while the right side features a large zip pocket — perfect for stashing items that need to be quickly accessible, like a phone or energy bars. At the top of the pack, a slightly padded pocket safely stores ski goggles.
Another highlight is the choice of materials, which manage to be both lightweight and highly durable. The RAB Khroma 30L proves that minimalist doesn’t mean fragile. It strikes an excellent balance between simplicity, comfort, and capability.
A well-designed, efficient ski touring pack that’s a pleasure to use — and one that clearly delivers where it counts.
