The autumnal bike rides in a chilly 10 degrees were made possible by wearing the Beta Bibtight! What a pleasure to ride with this really soft material, and so cozy comfortable around the thighs and calves. You immediately feel warm and yet have full freedom of movement. These long bibtights are made from Polartec Wind Pro fabric and it blocks the wind whilst remaining breathable. We noticed humidity from sweating appear much later than normal, and you really need to work hard to reach that level. They are water repellent (not waterproof).
The seam around the calf has an anti-slip band so the fabric doesn’t rise up. This works perfectly. The zip-tab at the base of the calf is a little oversized; it could be smaller. We were surprised at the thickness of the fabric under the zip and the finishing, but upon reflection this layer helps to avoid the zip from rubbing against the skin. Thanks for the very useful reflective strips for nighttime riding.
All the stitching is well positioned to avoid any discomfort. We can only complain about three little things: the enormous label at hip height (cut it out immediately), the fabric between the thighs is quite slippery on the saddle, and OK, there is maybe just one bit of stitching just behind the knees that is a little irritating when you first set out on the ride…then you forget about it.
The bib straps are comfortable, nothing in particular to note.
Last but not least, the fabric is high enough at the front to protect the sensitive area of the stomach from the cold. Idem at the back for protecting the kidneys. The Rh+ designers have been thoughtful enough to lessen the thickness of the fabric on the back to keep the heat accumulation down in this area.
We found this to be a great bibtight for autumn and winter rides. The major good point is the ultra-comfortable Polartec Wind Pro fabric.
