This is Salomon’s top of the range ski mountaineering boot – which you can see by price at 750 euros (but there are brands which are more expensive!) It is designed with the Arc’Teryx base.
You immediately notice the carbon piece that transfers the lateral pressure. Once closed the foothold is exceptional considering how light the boot is!
We did experience a couple of pressure points on the instep, which disappeared whilst skiing. This boot is designed for narrow feet. Contact with the shell is blatant, but this is minimalism with 100% performance.
The walking and uphill displacement is large, perfect for attacking any types of terrain flat and steep…
Salomon has used Dynafit inserts as well as a tightening lever at the back of the upper that blocks the ski in the blink of an eye in the skiing position. There is good anterior-posterior flex and no tibia pain. On the snow you drive the ski almost as if you were wearing alpine boots. This is an excellent lightweight model for narrow feet.
