Salomon wants to provide a high mountain skier a remarkably lightweight ski. It therefore provides ultra performance in the uphill but you do need technical skill to assure its stability in skidding trajectories and heavy snow in the downhill.
This X-Alp is a very satisfying ski despite its traditional shape without a rocker and continuous turns don’t need any form of ultra-balance.
Stability is good with good grip and good sensations and control underfoot. There is no instability with increased speed.
The curve is homogenous in the turns on the edges on soft terrain but if you increase the speed stability reaches its limits; avoid putting too much pressure on the tip. It’s best to initiate the turn with the ski flat.
