Although sleeveless cycling vests are designed to fit close to the body, the Santini Magic runs particularly small — don’t hesitate to size up. With that in mind, the question arises: should you choose this gilet or the full-sleeve version? In our opinion, the jacket is a more relevant option, especially since this Magic model features a waterproof membrane, which makes less sense on a vest that leaves the arms exposed.
That said, the Santini Magic Gilet is windproof, water-resistant, and relatively breathable. Its stretch fabric moves well with the body, providing excellent comfort and freedom of motion. As for durability? We haven’t tested it long enough to offer a definitive judgment on that front.
At just 100 grams (size M), it’s impressively lightweight and packs down small, easily fitting into its own left-side pocket. Bonus points for the zipper pull that works both ways, allowing you to close the pocket even after flipping it inside out for compact storage.
The cut offers good coverage down the back, and the collar is soft and protective, though it doesn’t feature membrane fabric in that area — which actually enhances comfort.
A well-made, thoughtfully designed gilet: extremely light, packable, and ideal for wind protection and light showers. Just be sure to size up.
