Our team tested these UYN Run Superleggera road and trail running.
A lightweight product weighing 27g. As we know scrimping on weight on running shoes is important and reaps rewards, doing the same with socks does not necessarily have same result. If you have shoes with reduced foam padding, you would be better off with socks that have some padding. Particularly for long distance runners, or maybe beginner runners too.
For experienced runners who don’t experience rubbing or hot spots when running will find these perfect. Thin, they envelope the foot very precisely, without any folds. You notice immediately the slight compression which is pleasant and not excessive like some brands can be. The arch feels fantastic. They are easy to put on and they slide on even if your feet are damp, thanks to the Natex a nylon fiber.
The entire heel zone benefits from additional thickness as well as around the toes. The Achilles tendon has very-well designed special protective bands.
The socks feel airy and precise and comfortable. The neck of the sock isn’t too tight. Small stones and grit, grass etc. can’t get in. In this zone we had an elastic that gave way but it didn’t change the sock’s foothold.
The UYN Run Superleggera are very breathable, you almost have the impression you’re wearing netting (except for the extra padded areas, heel and toes). You can recognize the feel of these socks against the skin compared to a thousand others, not as soft as some products.
On either side if the feet the stitching could do with a bit more care with the finishing, threads that stick out.
One of the advantages of these UYN Run Superleggera is the absence (practically none) of smells. The same technology has been used on ski socks, among others. Using silver thread is the reason for this effect.
Last but not least, the UYN Run Superleggera dry very quickly and don’t soak up water, which is always useful when out battling rainstorms.
The UYN Run Superleggera are stunning technical socks, lightweight and with slight compression. Dry quickly and don’t smell!
