Originally designed for freestyle use, this unisex Salomon Brigade Mips helmet can, of course, be used on the slopes and for freeriding.
It’s a helmet in line with current standards, equipped with Mips technology. Its weight is average (510 grams). Its affordable price allows you to equip yourself without breaking the bank. It also exists without the Mips system for 120 euros.
We used it continuously for three months. The Salomon Brigade Mips offers decent comfort (we’ve seen lighter ones, with a bit less inertia during head movements). The head circumference adjustment is done through the traditional rear dial, which lacks the plushness of some systems but gets the job done. The fit is secure.
The ear pads are comfortable, keep you warm, and ultimately don’t filter out much sound, so you stay connected to your environment, which is important for safety.
We really liked the integrated goggle strap, which is part of the Salomon Brigade Mips’ design: very well done. We also appreciated the matte finish of the helmet, reminiscent of a sports car. It looks great, but fingerprints are very noticeable…
In terms of ventilation, the Salomon Brigade Mips offers multiple air vents that ventilate the helmet quite well. However, they cannot be closed in case of snow or rain.
The chin strap closure is standard but effective.
