Salomon Aero Glide 3 GRVL: Trail-Ready Versatility with Everyday Comfort
The Salomon Aero Glide 3 GRVL borrows part of its name from the cycling world—“Gravel”—and it’s a fitting description. This is a versatile, all-rounder shoe, ready to explore a wide variety of terrains. Versatile, yes… but not at the expense of performance. It delivers an impressive running experience, whether you’re on the road or hitting the trails.
The Aero Glide 3 GRVL is a feel-good shoe that’s always up for the challenge. Exceptionally comfortable, with a generous toe box, it stands out thanks to its highly responsive and well-cushioned midsole. It brings together comfort and energy return, making each stride both smooth and lively. Though we tested it in a trail running context, it could just as easily fall into the road running category. We could easily see ourselves tackling a marathon in these shoes, thanks to their cushioning, comfort, and relatively dynamic ride.
That said, foot lockdown isn’t quite as tight as in a pure racing shoe, but stability and stride mechanics are solid enough for most runs.
On non-technical trails, it’s a great mileage-eater. Naturally, the outsole grip isn’t designed for muddy or extremely technical sections where maximum traction is needed.
The lightweight rock plate provides decent protection overall.
Traditional lacing works fine but requires a bit of attention to get the fit just right.
In short, this is a true pleasure shoe—versatile, with the spirit of “gravel” running through it. Ideal for daily runs, on (almost) any surface. A stylish package paired with solid performance. Awarded “First Test” by Test4Outside.
