Scott Slight 93

The Scott Slight 93 are extremely light skis, you don’t notice them on your feet or when you carry them on your shoulder. The brand therefore seems to present very efficient skis for off-piste, or even for freerando.

The lightness and width ratio is surprising. Its 93mm underfoot make them all mountain skis, therefore we expect great off-piste ease. However, we the tip-lift is lacking and they quickly go under the snow. Honestly, we expected more effective tips in choppy snow but they weren’t, these skis are wide but ultimately require skill and care when off-piste. They are quite strange because you need to ski them leaning to the rear, and so skiing in this position the tail is energized and can take you by surprise depending on your size. Finding your balance takes a bit of getting used to.

We felt that the Scott Slight 93 are lively skis, the carbon is noticeable: they rebound. They lack a bit of inertia, and they vibrate in the legs. When you go fast and things shake up in choppy snow you quickly lose confidence. That said in powder they are easy to pivot, but you have to work at it.

On the piste, they are different, you need to load the tips if you stay centred or to the rear the skis vibrate a lot and you lose front grip. As a result, the Scott Slight 93 don’t keep the edge length on the snow, you lose grip and that forces you to slow down. You need to lean forward and load the tips, then you get a correct carving curve. The carving limits need perfecting on ice, the Slight 93 wander a lot and you can’t have significant angulation because otherwise the ski slips away. If you don’t ski them right, you get an uneven curve, you have to adjust your downforce. A powerful skier twists the front of the skis and quickly finds their limits.

As soon as you slow down, everything is pretty much in order, you get easy, playful skis that pivot very easily, which lean into skidding turns without any problem. The tail doesn’t trip you up, it’s very pleasant. The Scott Slight 93 are great fun on the slope’s softer, you can easily turn around trees, poles, and bumps. But if you want to ski at a sustained speed, vibrations quickly reach your knees, and you lose grip, it vibrates too much. So you are forced to slow down dramatically. They’re lightweight all mountain skis, but Scott should have lifted the tips and refined the grip.

The Scott Slight 93 are made by Fischer, they offer a really excellent glide. The product is well-finished, sleek. The black top sheet absorbs shocks, which aren’t visible on the edges.

These Scott Slight 93 have mixed results. Under the guise of real all mountain skis, they are very light weight. But they don’t grip on ice and off-piste the tips dive. To be reserved for lightweight riders moving at a slower speed.
