The Julbo Faster L sunglasses were designed for high-speed sports, especially cycling. However, considering how lightweight this single-lens model is, they are also perfectly suited — and highly recommended — for trail running, triathlon, and other outdoor activities.
The first surprise when unboxing the Julbo Faster L is the transparent lens. In fact, the Reactiv lens automatically darkens when exposed to sunlight, shifting from category 0 to category 3. Its adaptation to changing light conditions is both quick and highly effective. We particularly appreciated the lens tint, which is very comfortable on the eyes.
Vision remains sharp across the entire lens surface, with very few reflections noticeable in use. Facial coverage is excellent, and airflow does not reach the eyes. Sweat runs smoothly off the lens since there is no upper frame to trap it. The field of vision is impressively panoramic.
As for the frame and overall fit, we slightly preferred the support offered by the Julbo Intensity. The Julbo Faster L is less secure when perched on top of the head. That said, its ultra-lightweight construction makes it easy to forget you are even wearing it.
The sunglasses come with a soft “puffer jacket”-style case — unusual, but surprisingly effective.
Overall, this is a single-lens sunglass model focused on aerodynamics and minimal weight, with a clean minimalist design and an excellent photochromic lens.
