Altra Altra Torin 7

The testers were impressed by the design of the Altra Torin 7, a shoe we’ve never run in before from Altra. The brand notes that for this version 7, the tongue, the heel area, and especially the cushioning have been modified compared to the previous version.

Let’s focus on the shape of the Altra Torin 7, particularly the 3D areas around the heel: it’s beautiful. The raised rear zone, very current in design, is not only aesthetically pleasing but also particularly effective for putting the shoe on.

The lacing is quite precise, allowing the foot’s center to stay snug at the back of the Altra Torin 7. However, the forefoot area, true to the brand’s DNA, gives the foot a lot of freedom: a very wide toe box.

For this road version of the Altra Torin 7, we note the zero-drop, which must be managed, ideally with a forefoot strike.

Cushioning is present, with Altra adding two millimeters more foam compared to the model 6. The comfort is noticeable when landing on the heel and becomes more diffuse towards the front. The ground contact is solid at the front, with a smooth transition, but the zero-drop and flat sole provide little support in terms of rocking motion. Lateral precision is good for this type of shoe.

Overall comfort is good, and in this regard, the Altra Torin 7 stays true to the brand. We especially liked the tongue and the foam around the ankle.
