This year the Backland Atomic 85 has been reworked to improve attaching and detaching skins. Its shape has been slightly changed with a smaller tip and a slight front rocker.
Finding your balance is really easy no matter what speed you are going or the type of turn you are doing.
In irregular snow, it follows its line without being disturbed by the uneven terrain.
It’s neutral on the edge when turning, it has a good bite on wide turns. It isn’t playful on its edges but pivoting in a traditional style comes more naturally, (being in a more upright stance).
Skidding turns and controlling them are done perfectly coming out of the turn or in the breaking phases. On steep slopes, they give great confidence.
A powerful skier would not need to take a very long length ski.
The Backland 85 has a firm flex and it is well spread giving stability and control.
This ski is a perfect product in its range as a versatile touring ski whilst being safe and performant.

After three months usage I can state they are very unstable skis on piste or a hard snow (together G3 ION binding). They perform quite well on powder or deep snow. Coupe of years I had volkl inuk with frame binding and it was fantastic for downhill but wanted something more exclusive and lighter. But it was a terrible mistake so I sold them. I want lightweight butt together with stability during downhill. So I returned to newest Inuk and Kingpin and it’s strike.
