Atomic Maverick 88Ti

The Atomic Maverick 88Ti is a very good all-mountain ski in the same excellent vein as the Atomic Maverick Ti 100.

These two skis naturally have different dimensions, and one might wonder which ski to acquire. Our verdict? The Atomic Maverick Ti100. We prefer to go straight for the 100, which does just as well in all aspects of skiing and remains very versatile on and off-piste. It has more leverage when transitioning from edge to edge, but on the side and further out, it is noticeably more comfortable while maintaining excellent grip on hard snow. It may be slightly less versatile, but ultimately versatility and performance lean towards the Ti100.

Now, back to the Atomic Maverick 88Ti, which is very effective, with a fairly quick edge-to-edge transition. It’s a truly enjoyable ski, a bit more tense than the Maverick Ti 100.

Perceived or actual, this Atomic Maverick 88Ti seemed a bit stiffer than the Ti100, even though after checking the Flex by hand, it seems about the same. However, on the snow, it’s a bit more direct, a bit stiffer.

On the first turns, you need to keep an eye on it because it has quite an energized tail. It’s a ski with power, solid underfoot with very good grip. However, it’s a product that’s easy to turn, just like its big brother, the Atomic Maverick Ti 100.

The Atomic Maverick 88Ti is an excellent all-mountain ski for a skier who will develop curves, cultivate strong and solid turns. It’s a ski that brings a smile, positions itself quickly, efficiently, and easily in all required turns.

There’s really no problem if you want to lengthen the turns. The transition from gliding to carving is smooth. You can really carve, make beautiful angulations even if it’s not very shaped. By working its flex, you get a lot out of it.

This Atomic Maverick 88Ti is very straightforward. Its performance in off-piste, spring snow, or heavily transformed snow is very pleasant, with its characteristic wide tip. It has a rounded shape with a raised edge on the sides. It allows you to easily navigate through difficult snow conditions.

We didn’t notice the characteristic small noises of the ski compared to the Maverick Ti 100. When crossing skis, they never catch either in front or behind. No tip cap.

The design isn’t exciting; it’s a bit dull… The rubber heel degrades over time, as does the tip, marking under the edge impacts. It has excellent glide.

A good performing ski for skiers who want to be comfortable on slightly harder, transformed, or choppy snow, off-piste at the end of the season. With a preference for the piste where the support is solid and healthy.
