The Blackcrows Mirus Cor has an unusual shape. It is a compact and wide carved ski. With its fluorescent colour it looks like a small toy, or a giant candy! The tip design is superb: both square and rounded. And most of all, we love the swallow tail, a superb design feature, might not be technically very useful but it brings a beautiful freshness to the shape. A beautiful object that you want to ski: it is a dream-maker!
The team of testers loved this Blackcrows Mirus Cor. Contrary to its shape, with rockers, we expected it to pivot very easily, maybe even too much. This is not the case, it feels solid underfoot and requires good positioning to put it in the turn, it’s not really instinctive, particularly on compact snow. Soft snow isn’t a problem.
The Blackcrows Mirus Cor produces a characteristic noise, especially at the front where the tip moves quite a bit: you can feel it at high speed on compact snow. Beyond the aesthetic aspect of this Blackcrows Mirus, it is also a pleasure to ride, it goes anywhere, it can even go freestyling and backcountry skiing. We included it in an all mountain section but freeride would also have been suitable.
If you want to ride on the edges, this Blackcrows Mirus Cor grips well despite its reduced sidecut it is present. You don’t have to push it too much either, if you’re a big guy riding it at full speed you will mistreat it. When the slope is a little steeper, you will find its limits, especially if you push it on its turn radius. But the grip is pretty satisfactory for this type of product.
The turn radius variation is easily obtained, you must just lean pressure into the tongue. The ski bends to the skier’s will. Likewise for increasing the turn radius, you lean back slightly it enters the curve and understeers.
Off-piste, its tip is so wide it lifts out and floats really well, such a pleasure.
An important point is that as you can see the Blackcrows Mirus Cor from afar; in terms of safety, it is fantastic.
It is quite light underfoot. What are this ski’s drawbacks? It’s not great in extreme angulations, on steep slopes (not designed for that), and at high speeds because it vibrates a lot.
The Blackcrows Mirus Cor with its crazy look is a very nice playful ski. They dared to be different: it’s nice to see this type of product that goes beyond the usual norm.
