The women’s Sharp End Shell GTX Pro jacket is designed for fast skiers and mountaineers who are demanding and looking for the lightest most technical gear.
Its light and soft fabric allows great freedom of movement whilst skiing, mountaineering or climbing with or without a backpack. The 3 layered Gore-Tex®Pro membrane is designed for hard conditions, totally waterproof, windproof and also really breathable. Along with two armpit two-way zippered vents for releasing heat even more rapidly. This is a minimalist jacket, tough against the elements and the terrain, put sup with rubbing against rocks, light and easily compressible to slip into the bottom of your pack. It has everything you need for when conditions deteriorate.
The hood is compatible with a helmet, large pockets and accessible even when wearing a harness. The hood and bottom of the jacket have an intelligent adjustment system and can be used with one hand and whilst wearing gloves thanks to the integrated Cohaesive™ cord management technology. Is it strong enough? Will it go the distance? Black Diamond has been using this technology on their clothes for adjusting the drawcords by simple pressure on an ultra-compact interface integrated into the fabric for a long time.
It means that no drawcords stick out of the jacket and therefore there’s no risk of them getting caught on anything. A Velcro® tab is easy to use even when wearing gloves and allows you to adjust the sleeves at the wrists. The zips are strong, waterproof and easy to use. There are two large lateral pockets that could be a little more comfortable (not lined). The right hand pocket has an inside extendable media pocket with holes for earphones. You may miss having more pockets but you save weight and its more breathable. The collar is lined with brushed micro-suede for more comfort.
The hood has a semi-rigid mini-visor that is perfect when it’s raining or snowing. The jacket is beautifully cut and can be worn over a lightweight down jacket. It’s classic, sober and comes in several different colours.
With its innovative technologies (Cohaesive™ GORE-TEX® Pro) it provides mega-performance, and so you can confidently use it in mountaineering, ice climbing, expeditions, ski mountaineering and ski touring, it easily justifies its high price.
