The generations of Brooks Cascadia continue but aren’t exactly the same. This sixth generation Cascadia has a more noticeable cushioning than the previous model: the brand state a very precise figure: 5%. This isn’t a revolution but runners who like soft and present cushioning that is well dosed are very satisfied.
Especially since the effect is regular between the heel and the metatarsals (predominantly at the heel obviously).
We’ll put it plainly, we loved these Brooks Cascadia 16. Get rid of the elastic system that keeps the laces on the instep because at the time of micro pockets on the tongue it seems a bit outdated. For the rest, these are designed for technical terrain and even long runs (even though the brand doesn’t stipulate the latter). You quickly forget you’re wearing these and so you can attack technical terrain without a second thought: wet ground, slabs, and scree. Your foot is well supported without being in a vice-like grip, the foam padding at the rear do their job well, while at the front it remains direct in the stone guard zone. The latter is effective and doesn’t affect the shoe’s balance.
The Brooks Cascadia 16 is consistent, it may not be a racing beast, but it takes on the miles. It has average dynamism and weight (300g) for this type of shoe.
The lacing and heel envelopment are both very precise. The laces are tough, and underfoot you don’t feel sharp stones. The Brooks Cascadia 16 doesn’t soak up humidity much (very little foam padding). What about the life span of the area where the shoe bends near the stone guard? This would need to be monitored over a longer period. They are made with care.
These Brooks Cascadia 16 have slightly more cushioning and are lighter than the previous version. They are pleasant to run with on technical terrain, whether racing or not.
