In the context of an “everyday shoe,” we greatly appreciated the Brooks Ghost Max. This is due to its combination of clear comfort with an energy return suitable for a runner looking to enjoy daily outings without a focus on performance goals.
The Brooks Ghost Max allows for sessions on the road, track, and perhaps even on trails and in parks.
However, it’s important to note that the Brooks Ghost Max conceals some of its strengths, and it needs to be analyzed in detail. First and foremost, despite its oversized appearance, it’s evident that the foot is not elevated; it descends much lower than the thick sole would suggest. Its drop is also reduced to 6 millimeters.
In terms of performance, although it can’t compete with racing shoes due to its (relative) weight and diminished responsiveness, the Brooks Ghost Max remains highly interesting in terms of forward tilt, responsiveness, and foam dynamics. We particularly liked the performance of the foam. Combined with the shoe’s structure, it results in excellent stability. There is no “spongy” feel in the cushioning, nor is there lateral rolling.
The finishing is impeccable, as is the quality of the materials. The foot is well-supported, especially at the heel; overall, comfort was a key focus in the development of this shoe.
A very good shoe for everyday road running, with a noticeable yet balanced cushioning that does not compromise overall stability.
