Hades is the Greek God of the underworld… The Swiss brand has chosen this name to describe its spirit. And I must admit it’s a success because this boot has a particular character! It is surprising because it reveals a concept different to all the other brands.
There is an exoskeleton that ensures the foothold and pressure transmission. Through the free spaces of the skeleton we can see the inner sock, or rather the boot. Because the trick consists of having two boots in one: a shell plus a boot for skiing and a boot for walking.
The boot requires a bit of adaptation time to manage the two laces but with practice it becomes easy quickly. You just need to fold back the tongue and tighten the two hooks.
Inside in the inner sock, I mean the “boot”, the foot is immediately comfortable. But, a pressure point surfaces on the ankle bone relatively quickly and then disappears whilst skiing.
On piste the Dahu skis surprisingly like a regular ski boot. It has a 140 flex, which seemed to us a little over the top, 120 would be enough. Made from Grilamid and fibers the Dahu Hades provides very good lateral transmission on foot pressure. For the rest it’s a surprising boot with good foothold.
The warmth isn’t exceptional despite the use of Thinsulate, Primaloft, cork and aluminum; the toe box is quite cold. Also the inner sole is slippery. We could also improve storage of the surplus laces. What about a Boa system? The Dahu is nevertheless a nice innovation with good performance and deserves to be known and skied.
