DYNAFIT HOJI PX

As a preview last year we tested the Dynafit Hoji Pro Tour Limited Edition. The product that we skied is the Hoji PX which is an off-shoot from the flagship of this range and dips into its innovations. The PX is made with Pebax®.

We enjoy the same skiing sensations as their big sister with great lateral pressure transfer. Basically the Dynafit Hoji PX ski practically like an Alpine boot. The edge grip is solid, you can steer the turn and lean on the tibia. The flex is rigid but the tibias aren’t affected by any pressure points. Very pleasant. A very good product that is precise on the downhill.

Unfortunately these Dynafit Hoji PX do not correspond to our testers’ foot form. These are very narrow boots and the ankle area suffered and putting them on was not that easy. But the person with the right morphology will be much more comfortable.

They are lightweight (1530g) with a hike/ski mechanism, just a strong lever to lift. We loved its fluidity and the small notch enables you to fix it and it stays in place. But as the lever is long, to avoid forcing it when you clip it up you can slip it under your ski pants.

The top hook is practical and quick to use: you open and close the boots speedily. One of the two hooks on the instep is reversed. The handling is also easy here too. We liked the shape of the hook with one end that makes handling easy with gloves on, even when there’s snow ir ice blocked underneath. The asymmetric tongue is also very successfully designed.

Uphill the 55° clearance is very effective and enables plenty of distance to be done even if the Dynafit Hoji PX are a little bit heavier than pure-blood performance touring boots. You must always remember, what you lose on the uphill, you gain on the downhill!

The Pomoca sole is also well-designed, the lugs are spaced and don’t clog up with snow. You always have good grip.

Of course these Dynafit Hoji PX are kitted out with LowTech inserts. There are a few small imprecisions in terms of manufacturing, the stitching, some plastic parts that are slightly wobbly at the edges, but overall its good.

The Dynafit Hoji PX adopt characteristics of the Hoji range, slightly heavier than the top-of-the-range but in terms of skiing the quality is definitely present. A good product providing a combination of uphill/downhill consistency and performance.
