We loved this La Sportiva Skorpius CR, which presents a clever combination of being light on the uphill and skiable on the downhill. Lateral downforce transfers are indeed very performant and direct and we can control the skis with precision.
One of the many good points about this boot concerns the smooth and quite late arrival of the hard point: when you flex, the boot follows the movement and progressively stiffens until it stops the leg and provide the pressure. The tibia doesn’t get hammered and the pressure on the ski can be measured.
The only complaint we have is with the ski/walk shift lever, which is not easy to open, sometimes it gets stuck. On the other hand, the flex movement on the climb is extremely good, you enjoy superb fluidity, and the foot can flex really far forward and back.
There’s a single hook on the instep which is quite easy to handle. The Sportiva Skorpius CR has a double buckle system on the tongue. It takes a little bit of time to adjust, but this system is very performant. Most importantly, the second strap is fitted with an extremely practical hook because you just need to open it when going up to improve your walking comfort.
The Sportiva Skorpius CR is a very good all-round ski touring boot that is reliable in all types of snow and terrain. It came very close to winning the Test4outside.com FIRST Award, only the ski/walk mode system lost its points.
