Dynastar M-Tour 100 Open

Test of the Dynastar M-Tour 100 Open in the freerando ski category. It features sidecut dimensions of 134-100-124 mm with a 17-meter turn radius, tested in the 178 cm length.

Much like its counterpart, the Dynastar M-Vertical 88, this is a solid ski underfoot. That backbone allows it to effortlessly handle all challenging conditions: softened spring slush, deep powder, and frozen ruts. It is greatly aided by a well-designed forebody that works actively, smoothing out terrain, generating instant float, and never diving. The tip works in tandem with progressive front rocker, complemented by a tail rocker that makes pivoting effortlessly smooth.

The Dynastar M-Tour 100 Open manages to be both accessible and high-performing, straddling the boundary of pure freeride. Mounted with tech bindings in the freerando category, its weight remains reasonable. It stays manageable on skin tracks, even if it isn’t built for massive vertical gains. However, its uphill-to-downhill performance ratio is compelling. While the needle clearly tilts toward downhill skiability, it remains fully capable for lapping sidecountry lines or tackling 500-meter ascents with the promise of a stellar descent.

The Dynastar M-Tour 100 Open delivers excellent edge grip and avoids any oversteering tendencies. You can hold a clean line and stretch out turns with complete confidence, despite its 17-meter sidecut radius. Well-balanced, it accommodates a wide range of skiing styles.

On side-hill traverses, however, its 100 mm waist makes it tricky to handle on steep, icy slopes—requiring extra vigilance. On the flip side, it dampens vibrations remarkably well over ice patches, heavy ruts, and harsh, chittery terrain, protecting your legs from excessive feedback.

The Dynastar M-Tour 100 Open is completely predictable, never crossing tips unexpectedly or washing out mid-turn. It provides solid high-speed stability when charging straight lines. A dependable, expertly engineered ski that remains agile enough to snap off short-radius turns when needed.

It lacks a dedicated tip notch for climbing skin clips, featuring instead a simple elastomer tail insert without an integrated tail slot. As is typical for touring builds, the steel edge does not wrap completely around the tip, and Dynastar opted for thin edges to trim down overall weight.

A outstanding, well-designed wide ski with a controlled weight profile that naturally limits long ascents. Exceptional downhill performance makes it a top-tier choice for freerando applications.
