The EQ range of solar products stand out by their use of certified organic natural products (Ecovert and Cosmebio label). The creams do not contain any chemical filters, parabens, silicone, synthetic fragrance or Nano particles. Mineral filters are all that the French brand uses. The EQ brand is loved by surfers for its resistance to water (doesn’t drip into your eyes) but also because it doesn’t damage coral. We tested this sunscreen far away from beaches and the surf out in the mountains on the snow, during many long sunny weeks where UVA and UVB were particularly aggressive on the skin.
The cream is quite thick but comes out of the tube easily. You may be surprised by the little bit liquid that comes out first when the tube is new. The cream spreads without much effort. We have used more fluid products that spread more easily. Let’s say that the EQ SPF 30 requires a little more care if you don’t want a white face (for men, pay attention to areas with hair). The whiteness disappears when you spread it properly.
Our testers did not have irritated eyes, as is often the case with other products. We liked the biscuity smell! But what’s most important is its protection power. We are used to using a much higher SPF, especially on snow. We were surprised to find that despite its index of 30, EQ has very effective protection. Just two applications during the day enabled us to escape any sunburn. You can also buy this cream in SPF 50, probably the one to use for very sensitive skin or children’s skin, during high reflective conditions such as on the water or snow.
For skiers, the packaging is great, although the 50ml tube takes up a bit too much space in your pocket and is quite heavy at 80g. Its shape is relatively flat though. We loved the screw tube so that the cream doesn’t spread all over the place in your bag or pocket if you crush the tube.
The only real criticism is the size of the text of the instructions for use (and almost illegible).
For the rest, the EQ SPF 30 sunscreen is a synthesis of the ideal product for athletes: protection, quality ingredients, organic approach, preservation of the natural environment. We awarded it the TEST4OUTSIDE FIRST Award without hesitation.
