The Evadict MT Cushion is positioned within the brand’s range as a shoe providing cushioning, versatility on different terrain despite its obvious grip. Their specifications were indeed confirmed by our field tests.
From our first strides we could see that this is a comfortable, stable, and eye-catching product. There’s very comfortable cushioning. The Evadict MT Cushion sole is sensitive to the cold in very low and prolonged temperature conditions. Once you’ve run when the temperature is above 10/15°C, everything goes back to normal and you’ll find the promised cushioning.
You have filtration in the heel without it being excessive, it doesn’t affect lateral stability. It’s a fairly consistent combination of comfort and ground contact. The front of the shoe is logically firmer, you can run forefoot. We found that foot positioning was precise, and running downhill is a pleasure as you don’t feel ricks poking up underfoot. The sole is wide: nine centimeters at the heel.
The entire midfoot area is very well adjusted with snug-fitting envelopment. Which contrasts with quite a spacious toe box. The mesh is non-stretch, so you retain the initial volume.
The heel is well designed, with generous padding and a pleasant heel hold, a good combination between precision and comfort. This padding can absorb humidity, the shoe then weighs a bit more. Note: the three holes at the top of the stone guard are not just there for style, any excess water is actually drains out there.
The overall feeling we had with the Evadict is that you are running with shoes that are comfortable, rather hefty (big lugs) and easier on rough terrain. They’re a bit like a Swiss army knife, a shoe that you slip into your bag when you don’t really know what awaits you on a route: short, long, stones, tracks, descents, etc. We have seen lighter shoes (we weighed it at 300g in size 42.5), and more dynamic but the Evadict MT Cushion responds present in so many trail running conditions. With its advertised price, below 100 euros, they are a good deal.
The other interesting point with the Evadict MT Cushion is its drop: 4mm. To be honest, in its sensations, we thought it was higher. We are used to thinking that this drop is aimed at a certain type of runner, those who will go from an Evadict XT7 (10mm drop) to the MT Cushion, will need to do it gradually, so you don’t strain your calves too much and injure yourself.
They are neatly made with strong reinforcements. We can’t yet comment on the longevity of the sole (which by the way, never clogs up with mud) despite our numerous trips in stony areas. Your toes are well protected with a double density of reinforcements. We just have a doubt about the first lace eyelet at the toes: when we bend the metatarsals, the rather rigid material “punctures” the mesh. Evadict has most certainly validated this point of “friction” in the lab with wear and tear tests, it needs to be checked with repeated tests out on the terrain.
The thin and flat slide laces slide very well across almost the entire instep, and provide good support. They are a bit long for our taste, but there’s enough to tie a double knot and store it in the large tongue pocket. The double knot is not compulsory because the laces don’t slip with a single knot. The tongue is an impressive height and width. In an era when you need pianist’s fingers to tuck laces into trail shoe pockets, the Evadict MT Cushion is very easy, especially with cold fingers. Like the Evadict MT 2, the pocket’s elastic is lacking a bit of tension.
This shoe can also be used for fast hiking. As in trail running, it has well-balanced torsional rigidity.
The Evadict MT Cushion is the all-rounder for trail running. Its main characteristics concern its cushioning and 4mm drop. Eye-catching, comfortable, and protective, it allows you to run all the time, everywhere, anywhere, and without breaking the bank. 100% effective.
