Millet Intense Pro Boa

Millet pulled it off with the Intense Pro Boa—a trail shoe designed for technical terrain that truly delivers.
We particularly appreciated its impressive stability, precision, and how well it absorbs impact on rough ground.

The Millet Intense Pro Boa does have a few drawbacks, notably a lack of responsiveness and a forward roll that could use improvement. But when it comes to demanding terrain that requires excellent proprioception and precise foot placement, this shoe is highly recommended. Its Michelin outsole, featuring shallow yet grippy lugs, provides solid traction on rock slabs and uneven ground. We did wish for a slightly more protective toe guard, but it’s clear that Millet prioritized weight savings—our pair came in at just 280 grams in size 43 1/3.

Speaking of weight and adjustability, the Boa Li-2 dial system is a standout. It allows for quick, precise tightening and loosening without fully disengaging the dial. And the Li-2 itself is impressively lightweight.

Back to how it runs: cushioning is well balanced between the heel and forefoot. It provides good shock absorption without feeling mushy, making it ideal for uneven and off-camber terrain. However, on smoother, rolling sections where push-off is key, the outsole lacks a bit of rebound and energy return—you can’t have it all.

With its 4 mm drop, the Intense Pro Boa offers a low-profile feel, keeping you close to the ground without that “tippy forward” sensation. There’s virtually no rolling movement, which adds to its control on tricky trails.

Putting the shoe on takes a bit of care, but the Boa dial makes up for it with its ease of use. The lower part of the upper is made from durable Matryx mesh, while the soft knit collar wraps the ankle nicely—though a tighter fit here could help keep out debris like twigs or small stones. Price-wise, this shoe sits at the high end.

A trail shoe designed for technical terrain—ultra-stable, secure, and with the added bonus of Boa lacing precision.
