The Fischer RC One GT 86 are fluid skis that go easily onto the edges. They aren’t specifically aimed at expert skiers with high technical skills. They are nevertheless accessible even if they are heavy with a little inertia on the tips. You can feel the quality materials! A Titanal plate covers the entire length of the skis.
The Fischer are very pleasant skis and can be skied in an upright position if needed. They are also easily turned for emergency stops. Skidding turns are done with ease even if they prefer carving as they automatically search the edges, but you don’t get trapped into carving.
As soon as the speed increases you hear the little characteristic sound of these skis, especially in the tips. Not annoying at all, more noticeable on hard snow.
When you lengthen the turns the Fischer RC One GT 86 remain stable even if you have doubts on their torsional rigidity if you have a heavier build and going at high speed. You can find the limits especially concerning the ski tips. Although underfoot you can feel the power. The tail is pleasant, no getting trapped if you lose your balance.
Off-piste they manage most conditions if they aren’t too extreme.
You lose a bit of confidence gripping hard snow. We didn’t find their glide that brilliant, just average. They are well-made and we liked the perceived quality and especially the metal inserts that you see underfoot and at the ski tips. The latter scuff quickly with knocks from the edges but the upper side of the skis don’t get damaged. You really feel the delights of the pintail design.
The Fischer RC One GT 86 are good efficient skis and relatively performant. They have ther limits for heavier built skiers who will hammer the flex and therefore their grip on hard snow. We advise skiing with a longer size.
