Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell jacket

Helly Hansen has put all its expertise into this protective ski jacket. It’s hard to find anything wrong with it, it’s (very) top-end with a price to match.

Where shall we start? The first quality to note with this Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell jacket is its maximum protection. It’s pretty impossible to find any faults. The waterproofness is top-notch in wet or dry snow, in the rain, the wind, in the fog, you name it!

The collar is undoubtedly the highest on the market. It deserves dwelling on because it is perfect when you wear a helmet + goggles because it comes up just under the goggles, over the nose. Nothing sticks out, you can face a blizzard without any worries. On the other hand, despite the two vents at the nose, you need goggles that aren’t sensitive to fogging up.

When you aren’t wearing goggles, the collar is really high and comes in front of your mouth, so you need to lower the zip if you want to show a piece of your face or just have your mouth free. This is the only critical comment that can be made of this jacket; the rest is faultless.

The cuffs have wide and powerful Velcro, very well-designed volume to go over gloves, a passage for thumbs and cozy protection on the back of the hands. It comes with a removable collar-sock (for frequent washing).

The waterproof zips slide well, are easy to grip with gloves on and are tough. The pockets are huge, they can accommodate goggles (inside mesh pocket), gloves, etc. The chest pocket preserves your phone battery by protecting it from the cold, it’s a shame that it is located at heart level. The snow-skirt can be adjusted in two positions and you can also attach the ski pants. The (passive) Recco system is on the right shoulder.

We really liked the slightly stretchy fabric that doesn’t block movement. This flexibility is particularly well balanced because you don’t have a jacket that goes out of shape, as is often the case with this type of fabric. The Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell jacket is a three-layer fabric made from Lifa Infinity Pro that uses no chemicals for its long-lasting water repellency.

We tested it with a Helly Hansen Lifaloft Insulator jacket for warmth. All the assemblies are made with attention to detail, it has a wonderful perceived quality and a confirmed tough and overall robustness.

This Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell jacket is a very well designed, technical, stylish product, ideal for going up against the most extreme conditions.
