The Julbo Rush was delivered with a Reactiv Photochromic Performance lens, the category varies from 0 to 3. This lens becomes almost totally transparent when you ride very early in the morning or at night (return trip). It isn’t the lens that we would have spontaneously chosen because we prefer to have stronger sun protection in broad daylight, during summer outings. They therefore lack a little filtration that can be found in the wide range of sunglasses offered by Julbo (we do get lost a little in the choice). The price varies from 110 to 190 euros.
The Julbo Rush are next to the Julbo Fury in the “cycling” range, whose weight drops to 25 grams compared to 38g for the Rush. At almost equal performance, overall the Fury is lighter and cheaper.
The Julbo Rush has a large screen surrounded by a two-tone structure. The test team discussed the design in detail, especially the plastic above the nose, we couldn’t decide if it’s vintage or too obvious. We also noticed the screws at the nose that we didn’t find very qualitative. But you must also consider the price, which is lower compared to high-end Oakley products (https://www.test4outside.com/produit/oakley-radar-ev-path/) for example.
We did really like the wide screen’s excellent panoramic vision. You can see the lens edge beneath your gaze, but it’s fine. Ditto for the arms. The contrasts don’t change and the quality of the details are impeccable. We didn’t notice any distortions anywhere through the lens, vision is linear. This very clear lens is comfortable. We just expected it to get darker.
We didn’t notice any lens-fogging and the air streams work well: protection in this area is optimal.
The Julbo Rush’s major positive point concerns its arms, which adapt to the curve of your head. It is absolutely essential to adjust them it changes everything. The helmet straps aren’t hampered by the sunglasses arms.
The nose is comfortable but there’s less grip when you sweat a lot. These imposing Julbo Rush fit under the helmet and need to be very well adjusted, otherwise, the helmet will immediately press on the top of the Rush and push them down.
The hinges make a slight noise when you open them and remain silent when you are wearing them. The area above the nose is not easy to clean, after several outings and a lot of sweating, you need to clean them meticulously.
The Julbo Rush gives you a panoramic view with a quality lens. There are several screen options available for purchase. This amazing looking Rush are for cyclists.
The Rush is delivered in a semi-rigid case (too small, you have to force the zipper) and a textile pouch.
