K2 Disruption 78 C

HOT DEAL

These are the new 2021 K2 piste skis. They look like classic skis with their neon design and graphics take you back in time. And yet, these skis are far from being an old-fashioned product, quite the contrary. This is just the type of novelty that you want to keep at the end of a ski test, just to have loads of fun on packed down snow or to teach with.

This K2 Disruption 78 C has a side cut that goes right up in the tip and tail. What were the first impressions on the snow? These skis glide really well despite that this test model had already been used a lot. They are very efficient in terms of speed and very pleasant on choppy snow.

The K2 Disruption 78 C aren’t particularly light, you can sense a little inertia at the tips but nothing too bad. As soon as you ski and want to skid, you can feel the tail’s presence and you are dealing with a ski that has solid material underfoot but it’s not at all extreme.

Just tuck in your knees a little and the K2 Disruption 78 C bites the edge and they start to accelerate. They give a gentle feel on the snow, and don’t make a sound, they’re really pleasant when they start picking up speed. They handle like the Dynastar Speed: a sort of very nice giant skis, easy to use.

The K2 Disruption 78 C enter into the curve, accelerate and grip: you can lean into an angle, and they respond. We didn’t manage trip them up or lose grip, even going very fast on the slope: it’s perfectly simple, they don’t budge.

They do start loosening up when you try to sharply reduce the curve. At one point, they understeer, and pull up a little straight, but for this to happen you really have to try to drastically reduce the turn. In the medium to very long turns, they behave really well. You can lean on the edge, and it never slips away. You can vary the angles, pull your knees in, even put pressure on them in the center and they tighten their curve (up to a certain limit).

Whether you ski the K2 Disruption 78 C towards the front or rear they are the same: they runs smoothly. They don’t trap you even if the tail is present. They don’t block you even on steep slopes, if yo go off-balance in the rear they don’t cause any major consequences.

It’s the same if you lean into the tips, they don’t deform or stop you. You can feel that there’s content underfoot, strength. We love the beautiful tip design: a very contemporary square-cut.

Great grip in small turns. You can slide the K2 Disruption 78 C into small turns, although it may not be quite their thing, it does work.

At very high speed, they are solid, never a reason to have fear. In straight runs same thing, they don’t flail around.

In terms of absorption, they filter well, so you gain peace of mind because the skis are stuck to the snow and vibrations don’t return to your legs.

Their fluorescent design may quickly fade and become dated.

We really liked these classic-looking K2 Disruption 78 C. They are nothing exceptional but they work really well. They are great value for money; at less than 600 euros, they fully deserve the Test4outside Hot Deal award. Despite their name, they aren’t disruptive, but very interesting skis because they are: efficient, accessible, catchy, stable, and well-finished. Surprising skis!

Pro patrol atMarble mountain here in Nl, Canada. Was looking for a nice carving Ski that could handle a few bumps and crud. Did a far bit of research, got a sweet deal at a local shop. Put them on yesterday and love them . They rip on the groomer, light and lively in the bumps and very nimble in quick hard shot radius. I have 40+ years on Skiis. My other Skiis are Line sick day 94, and vokl kendo 88. These fill all the gaps, love them. They certainly don’t shine in powder but wasn’t expecting them to anyway. Bang for buck you can’t go wrong
