We tested the Kästle Parangon 107 in the 184 cm length. At first glance, it looks like a beast — a very wide ski (107 mm underfoot, 140 mm at the tip…). You can’t help but wonder what it’s going to do on snow, with such a dominant appearance.
First surprise: pivoting when flat and turn initiation on hard snow are actually quite easy. The Kästle Parangon 107 doesn’t demand your full attention. Yes, there’s plenty of leverage, and the wide waist means you’ll need to commit to the edge, but the ski is far from unmanageable. Surprisingly, despite its size and weight, it doesn’t require brute force to handle. The flex is well-balanced, and even with all that power, the ski remains smooth and progressive throughout the turn. A very intriguing ski — though we tested it with demo bindings mounted a bit far back, unfortunately.
Off-piste, the Kästle Parangon 107 shows a bit of inertia in tight, flat turns — like weaving through bumps, trees, or terrain variations. But at higher speeds, both in powder and elsewhere, that feeling of weight disappears. It becomes a smooth and obedient ride. Push it hard, and the ski unleashes — accelerating aggressively. The tip absorbs terrain, and the ski just crushes everything in its path. It feels like a high-speed train: solid, fast, and unstoppable. Incredible sensations. The tip doesn’t chatter. It carves a confident and precise line that feels fantastic.
It’s a very well-built ski, with a minimal tail rise, which makes it easy to slide into lift racks despite its width. Build quality is top-notch — this is a ski designed to last.
Turn initiation is easy and followed by strong acceleration. It keeps picking up speed long after the turn starts — the limits here are your own. It’s also a strong performer on jumps.
You don’t need flawless technique to enjoy this ski. On turn exits, when your weight shifts to the heel, the Parangon 107 doesn’t punish you — despite its energetic tail. We appreciated the long effective edge in the tail, unlike the Atomic Bent 110, for example. With the Kästle, you’ve got solid support, inspiring confidence, and fluid, predictable arcs.
It doesn’t bounce energy back into your legs — which means less fatigue. At high speeds, tightening the radius while on edge is difficult, but in a skidded or drifted stance, it responds just fine.
The Kästle Parangon 107 produces a distinctive sound from the tip, a reassuring hum rather than something hollow. You can see the edge wrapping fully around the tip for added durability — a beautiful piece of engineering. The top sheet is incredibly tough.
A very impressive ski, intimidating at first due to its dimensions, but ultimately not overwhelming. Highly capable off-piste. Awarded First Place by Test4Outside.
