Tested in the 176 cm length, the Kästle Sublime 93 establishes itself instantly as an exceptional ski, condensing all the qualities of an authentic all-mountain model right on the doorstep of freeride. Ultra-stable, delightfully easy to pivot, and possessing foolproof edge grip across every type of terrain during carved turns, it redefines the standards of high-end versatility.
On the snow, its construction reveals a subtle feat of engineering. While initial impressions might suggest a flex that feels perhaps too soft, nothing could be further from the truth: the ski has plenty of backbone, substance, and inner core material. This substance, paired with a cleverly engineered mass distribution, means you never actually feel its true weight underfoot. Its extremely linear flex, completely free of any harsh dead spots underfoot, ensures a remarkably homogeneous behavior. Even on steep slopes and hardpack, the ski absorbs heavy loads without flinching, locks onto an almost exceptional carved edge, and rolls through its arc without ever twisting.
When it comes to handling, it naturally guides you along its preferred turn radius (which is rather long), but it easily bends to the skier’s wishes: lengthening turns is child’s play, while shortening them is readily achieved by working forward into the tongues of your boots. In drifted or skidded turns or during short wedeln sequences, its maneuverability works wonders—even though you can feel that tightly linked, pure carving turns aren’t its exclusive hunting ground.
As soon as conditions deteriorate or open up, the Sublime 93 displays its full talent. In spring snow, slush, or deep powder, its progressive, well-proportioned tip rocker, combined with a subtle tail lift and a long effective edge, allows it to punch right through crud and absorb terrain at high speeds as well as at moderate paces with royal serenity.
On the aesthetic and manufacturing front, it is true master craftsmanship: premium materials, millimeter-precise finishing,a magnificent integrated tip protector, and base glide of formidable fluidity. All of this is crowned by genuine durability.
A true do-it-all tool that shines through its masterclass balance between floatation, liveliness, edge grip, and comfort. An outstanding ski that earns our First Award label without a moment’s hesitation.
