This Kästle ZX 100 left a big impression on us. With it, you can move at high speed and push your limits… as long as you have both the technical skills and the physical strength. We skied it in a 181cm size, a ski that you can choose slightly smaller if you’re afraid of being overpowered.
It was awarded a Core Test4outside.com award, which recognizes a demanding product not suitable for everyone. This Kästle ZX 100 appears calm when you consider its rocker, but as soon as you’re on hard snow, you really need to be present and not get caught by the tail. Depending on your build, the area underfoot is quite stiff. As soon as you increase speed, you discover the Kästle ZX 100 and benefit from great stability, especially when you put it on edge.
In carved turns, it doesn’t budge; it carves long or even very long turns. You have to work hard to make it turn tightly if you don’t have the physical strength.
Less “solid” skiers need to press hard on the tongue to tighten the turns. With this Kästle ZX 100, it feels like nothing can stop us. It’s important to be careful of any skiers around us because, once you’re launched, it’s not easy to switch the Kästle ZX 100 to skidding/slide mode. On soft snow, of course, it’s easier.
We found that the carved turns are very good; we feel like a rocket. It’s a big boat that goes very fast. Short turns in an upright position don’t require too much attention. Pivot is fairly easy to achieve. Medium turns are also obtained without too much effort. As soon as you’re on hard snow, you feel the flex at low speed.
Off-piste, the Kästle ZX 100 is excellent. It goes over difficulties, crushes them. You can go very fast with this solid and very effective weapon. A powerful ski for an advanced skier who wants to attack the slope without compromise.
