The Kiprun Cushion 500 Premium claims 9% more cushioning and 10% more responsiveness compared to the standard Kiprun Cushion 500. It also features brighter colors and a noticeably more premium design.
True to its brief, the Kiprun Cushion 500 Premium is a budget-friendly daily road shoe, designed for regular training runs. It’s better suited to medium distances rather than long ones, as it offers limited rocker and energy return.
Once on the move, you’ll find a comfortable ride, with good heel cushioning but less under the forefoot. It’s clear from the outset that this isn’t a racing shoe—the Cushion 500 Premium prioritizes comfort over performance. The forward roll is quite subtle, as is the toe-off. It’s a stable shoe that doesn’t require any special technique. Heel strikers will feel right at home. Thanks to its stability, it’s also at ease on light trails or non-technical paths, despite the 8mm drop.
Build quality is solid, with good materials and a claimed durability of 1,000 kilometers.
On the downside, the top of the pre-shaped tongue is a bit stiff, and the laces don’t slide easily, making it harder to fine-tune the fit.
All in all, this is a very affordable shoe that doesn’t cut corners on performance. A great option for beginners or anyone looking to train regularly without breaking the bank.
