These skis are made from a new material, “carbon balsa”, that produces a lightweight and reactive ski. The manufacturer’s technical description.
On piste these skis are performant but not necessarily to the extreme. They work well when you are on the edges and moving at an average speed. When you increase the speed you lose grip and stability.
We did really like its ability to initiate the turns. Coming out of the turns needs a bit more concentration because the Nordica Sentre S6 has a tendency to stay in the curve’s radius. So be aware of technique. We did notice some stiffness at the waist. The tail is also rigid and rear imbalances can quickly become a problem: the Sentra S6 becomes stuck in its curve.
These skis are designed for skiers who tend to do skidding turns even if it is placed in the top of the range skis. Carving needs great technical attention. The stiff design of these Nordica doesn’t give it a regular flex, therefore needs a skilled woman to exploit them fully in carving and skidding turns.
The look is not “aggressive”, black and white, it is classic and subsequently misses a bit of peps. But some of our testers really liked the look – all a matter of taste!
