Oakley Line Miner L

The Oakley Line Miner L goggles are available in various colors; we tested them with the blue lens (Sapphire Iridium) on the outside but pinkish on the inside. This lens offers excellent versatility between sunny sessions and overcast or even foggy conditions.

There’s no doubt that Oakley quality shines through in dry weather, and this time, with a price tag of 160 euros, it remains relatively affordable (most goggles retail for over 200 euros).

We’ve been able to test it for more than three months continuously, so we have a very precise idea about this aesthetically successful goggle.

It’s a very well-ventilated goggle; you can even feel the airflow on the sides, which can be a bit bothersome. We thought that with this ventilation, the goggles would be immune to fogging, but that’s not the case. In wet snow, rain, or humid storage conditions, the lens can fog up. This is especially annoying when there are significant warm/cold contrasts (such as exiting a gondola, for example). Personally, we reserve this goggle for “dry” sessions. For runs in wet weather, we don’t take the risk of reduced visibility.

It’s really a shame because the Oakley Line Miner L has some genuinely great qualities when it’s not humid. The lens is truly suited for skiing in sunny weather, providing reliable protection. The attention to detail, definition, contrasts, lack of distortion… it’s all there.

The foam padding is quite firm when the goggle is pressed against the face, but the fit is good and comfortable. No noises or squeaks. The field of vision is significant and very pleasant.

The wide strap adjusts easily and stays in place.

We haven’t been particularly gentle with this goggle; it’s been attached to our helmet without protection. It’s received a few scratches, but nothing major. While it needs care, it remains quite durable.

It’s a pity that its effectiveness is not convincing in humid conditions because its optical quality in dry weather is top-notch. The anti-fog system of the lens needs to be revisited.
