We had the opportunity to test the Oakley Sphaera Slash, which stays true to the American brand’s DNA with a successful mix of design and technicality.
These sunglasses are intended for multi-sport use; they are indeed effective for running, trail running, hiking, etc. They are slightly less efficient for cycling, where their coverage on the face allows some airflow.
The Oakley Sphaera Slash is lightweight, weighing 34 grams on our scale. It stays well on the face even when sweating. Additionally, it is not prone to fogging.
We really appreciated both the fit on the face and the quality of the lens, which does not distort and responds excellently to changes in light. The contrasts are enhanced without being overdone. It’s worth noting that on the sides of the field of vision, you can slightly see the cut of the lens. You get used to it, but it can be a bit distracting at first.
The Oakley Sphaera Slash is barely noticeable under a helmet or cap. The temples are sturdy, although there are some slight squeaks when handling them. While the design is both sleek and bold, we noticed a golden metallic reinforcement inside the Oakley Sphaera Slash. We would have preferred a “matte black” version to make it more discreet.
The Oakley Sphaera Slash comes with a textile case, a spare nose pad, and a well-designed semi-rigid storage box.
A versatile, effective, and comfortable pair of sunglasses with excellent fit on the face. A design that stands out.
