The Reconnaissance M’s JKT is Patagonia’s most breathable jacket in the ski/snowboard range. It is difficult judging the degree of breathability in a jacket because it depends on the activity, the number and type of layers you wear underneath, the outside temperature, your personal physiology, etc.
This jacket is beautifully finished, choice of assembled panels, collages, zip quality and general quality fabrics.
The hood adjusts using one hand and once adjusted it follows your every move without any obstruction or discomfort. Then when you need to undo it you just squeeze the big button at the back of your head to release the tension: ultra efficient and couldn’t be easier!
We also appreciated the many large pockets that close from the bottom upwards, so even if you forget to close them completely your chances of losing anything from the pockets are reduced.
The zips slide beautifully, so much so you only have to use one hand!
The chin is well protected and there’s no irritation.
The wide sleeves slide easily over a pair of thick gloves and big sports watches like a Garmin or Suunto. The Velcro strap could do with being a little stronger as with the snow and a bit of pressure it loses its strength.
We loved the double tightening waist belt, which also uses automatic tightening buttons and so you can easily manipulate it with gloves on.
Stretch fabric that moves effortlessly with you and an inner lining that is lovely and soft to the touch. This product is very well designed, well finished and conceived for performance and efficiency: and at a reasonable price.
