Try and find something wrong with this RAB Nimbus jacket!… After months of testing – we didn’t find any!
Exceptional: the best things about this jacket are its exceptional warmth and fast drying. RAB have worked on the Cirrus insulation technology in partnership with 3M. The Cirrus insulation synthetic fibers have such a superb fluffy aspect you would think that it was down; the weight/heat ratio is practically the same. Except this insulation does not hold humidity and dries incredibly quickly.
Also it doesn’t smell of wet duck! The ‘duvet’ doesn’t squish down into little packets after time and use. The compressive size is slightly bigger than feathers.
The Pertex Endurance outer resists well against abrasive rocks whilst out mountaineering.
The mini-baffles keep the Cirrus fibers positioned well and leave no gaps without insulation, including in the hood, which is also helmet compatible. The neck is kept snugly warm as it zips up nice and high with a cozy non-irritable protection inside.
The central zip, like all its zips, are easy to use, slide well and have a mini-cord with a plastic end attached to facilitate use. This makes it a breeze for opening with gloves.
The chest zone is lined inside with an extra wind stopping fabric. You tighten the base of the jacket on the right hand side and the elastic is not too long and tightening is efficient. There’s no hood tightening but it isn’t needed as the hood stays perfectly in position without.
We really liked the inner wrist-sleeves that are comfortable, warm and stop any snow or wind entering. A RAB insulation jacket for extreme conditions, but not only! It is tough, warm and not sensitive to humidity. A Best Seller, which obviously wins our FIRST Award.
