We loved these Salomon S/Force 7 W because they are light underfoot and smooth to ride. This ski doesn’t surprise, suits any kind of snow conditions and even slightly off piste on the side-lines you can almost have an all mountain feel.
The tip is very flat to the snow and vibrates a little with a little characteristic noise that doesn’t have any consequences. This ski is a successful combination of materials and lightness. You can feel that it has energy, presence, but is also accessible to the skier. This ski definitely has superior skiability. A good skier will really enjoy it. You can carve with fluidity and enthusiasm; it grips on hard snow and enters turns easily. You can vary the radius if you charge the front of the ski. It doesn’t go out of shape too much up front, for an average built skier, and you can ski at a constant speed.
If you really want to push it and you charge it too much, you will find its limits. The Salomon S/Force 7 W has to be skied by an expert; it isn’t designed for intermediate skiers. Particularly when carving or for weight distribution, balance and fine-tuned angulation is needed. Otherwise you can leave the radius on its 13-metre curve and it takes charge. If you want to push it harder, you don’t need more physical strength you need more technical skills. Everything is there: turn initiation, grip, fluidity, extreme angulation, you can lengthen the radius easily.
The Salomon S/Force 7 W is mechanised underfoot, the tail doesn’t trick you. A carefree ski that isn’t complicated to ride.
Aesthetical blip; the metallic tip protection is a bit too wide. The finishing is excellent, and the design is sober yet classy.
This women’s ski is coherent and fulfils all the characteristics of a piste ski. It is designed for good female skiers, an excellent product that we felt deserved the FIRST Award.
