It is interesting to note that the Boa system is becoming increasingly common among ski boot brands, with major players such as Fischer, Atomic, and K2 already integrating it, and Nordica and Tecnica planning to do so in 2025.
The Salomon S/Pro Supra Boa 120 has a last of 100 millimeters.
The Boa system is extremely easy to use: just press the dial and turn it. Tightening may take a little time, which may be the only minor inconvenience compared to traditional buckles. However, the effectiveness of the Boa is very satisfactory as the tightening is uniform and consistent, without pressure points. The foot wrap is precise, consistent, and powerful, but it is important not to over-tighten the dial. The dial may slip slightly with some gloves when trying to pull it, for example, to open the boot.
The flex of 120 is clearly noticeable, with a stiff point that is felt progressively, thus avoiding putting too much pressure on the shin. The boot hardly deforms. Although the brand has emphasized volume and comfort over precision, the overall package remains coherent. The liner provides good thermal insulation. The two top buckles close easily.
The sole provides decent grip but is less effective than a GripWalk sole.
In summary, this is a coherent alpine ski boot, equipped with a very convincing Boa system in terms of tightening quality and foot wrapping.
