Scott Scrapper 95

The Scott Scrapper 95 is a twin-tip ski that is really pleasant to ski on all terrain-types and snow conditions. It has a good combination of lightness (1.5kg) and instant pivoting without forcing.

With it being so light it is agile in the uphill with great skiability in the downhill. This is a freeride/backcountry ski.

It has absolutely no inertia in the tip and goes into the turn with real enthusiasm and ease in a forest.

It is fluid and playful: the Scott Scrapper 95 was great fun on the piste edges and off piste and it adapts to any snow conditions and is easy to pilot. Its bonus: it absorbs vibrations and prevents them rising up your legs to rattle your teeth out.

The Scott Scrapper 95 rides well even if you are off balance too far forward or back, for example if you have a heavy backpack. The testers described the ski as being like a Swiss knife!

The only thing missing is its tough grip on hardpack. You do lose confidence if going at high speed, on the edges with a lot of angle. On soft snow on an easy slope carving is fine.

The Scott Scrapper 95 skids turns easily, you can ski it in an upright stance and let it slide; no stress it’s really an all-terrain toy. “you can ski across the mountains, not necessarily very fast, but you can have plenty of fun” the testers replied.

The Scott Scrapper 95 turns easily with its tip and the edge is found intuitively. Also, if you ski it centred it pivots. The turn is not that fluid, but to be fair it isn’t a carving ski, you have to remember how light it is.

In the end of season’s soft spring snow, it’s a real delight!

You can ski backwards a bit with the Scott Scrapper 95 and so could be a useful tool for teaching, or for helping a beginner skier. In narrow gullies, the raised heel is very useful: moving back and forth to position yourself better is easily done.

The Scott Scrapper 95 are easy to carry because they are so light. They have beautiful perceived quality; the top sheet is efficient but fragile. They slide really well and have a great ski-tip lift design (especially for attaching skins).

The Scott Scrapper 95 is a real all-terrain ski with great skiability and lightness. Very easy to pivot, it is at home in choppy terrain that needs agility. What are its limits? Heavy skiers and high speeds. A good versatile ski and good value for money.
