These Speedo Aquapulse Pro Mirrors are a pleasant surprise, these swimming goggles are designed for triathlon and open-water swimming are focused on efficiency.
The first major positive point concerns how comfortable they are. They sit in the eye socket (not inward like the smaller format models) and distribute the elastic pressure well. The 3D IQfit seal is very performant: in addition to being waterproof, comfortable, the flexibility prevents the goggles from slipping. There is a slight “sucking” phenomenon of the Speedo Aquapulse Pro Mirror.
The other major quality is the absence of fogging. You’ll need to confirm over time whether the anti-fog coating loses its effectiveness or not. At any rate, in sessions over 2000 meters vision was not obscured.
We also really liked the double-elastic head strap. The pressure distribution is good; the well-studied sides fulfill their missions. Best of all, adjusting the ends of the elastic straps is easy: just pull and you increase the tension without having to spend long minutes fine-tuning the adjustment. The elastics are graduated for more precision.
The bridge of the nose is curved enough so that it does not touch the nose when there’s a lot of pressure.
The lenses are designed for sunny conditions, they provide very good protection when you lift your head out to breathe when it’s sunny or whilst doing backstroke. On the other hand, for triathletes who leave at night, on the Embrunman for example, the lenses are too dark. The lenses have good contrast, and the blues and greens are enhanced.
They have a very pleasant panoramic field of vision. In fact, the only downside to these Speedo Aquapulse Pro Mirrors is the hard, plastic case. The goggles don’t fit easily inside and paradoxically, the case takes up a lot of space in your pool bag, and doesn’t close well. We’ve seen much more efficient and elegant semi-rigid cases.
These Speedo Aquapulse Pro Mirrors won the Test4outside.com FIRST Award without question. These goggles combine all these good points: comfort, waterproofness, anti-fogging, adjustment ease and speed, the lenses UV protection and superb field of vision. An excellent product for triathlons or simply to enjoy swimming, at a low price.
