This pair of pants falls within the same range as the jacket of the same name, the Wedze Pist900 jkt, which we tested.
We find the same characteristics with the fabric being rather thick and robust-looking but fortunately stretchy in both directions. The seams are perfectly sealed. The zippers are also waterproof. The knees are pre-shaped by bias seams.
All of this provides very acceptable comfort for downhill skiing.
It’s far from a baggy style. The fit is snug, and a skier with larger thighs may feel tight, especially if they have to wear thermal underwear underneath.
Fortunately, the warmth provided by the lining eliminates the need (except for the most cold-sensitive) to wear one. Even in fairly intense cold, we managed without it.
While skiing fast, the protection and insulation proved effective. In terms of design, efficiency and classic style prevail, with no frills.
There are two side pockets, a bottom zipper to facilitate putting on and adjusting the slightly stretchy gaiter. It is closed at the base by a silicone elastic band. It also provides easier access to the boot collar loops.
On the inside, there is a reinforcement of a different fabric, more resistant to typical abrasion and ski edge hits. The two thigh ventilation zippers are not forgotten. Positioned slightly diagonally, towards the knees, it was easy for us to grasp the slider and open them, controlled by the thin elastic netting between their junction.
We appreciated the top part of these Wedze Pist900 pants. They rise up on the lower back. At the waist level, they are only lined in the center and inside with a soft, breathable fabric to transfer moisture. This also adds a slight extra comfort and warmth to the lower back. There are no dedicated suspenders.
We found the tightening effective. It is ensured on each side by two wide elastic straps and a velcro allowing for flexible tension with moderate amplitude.
At the front, the waist closes with a snap and a hook button, perfect for avoiding any “unhooking”.
Decathlon, with this Wedze Pist900 pant model, offers a pant specifically designed and well-suited for downhill skiing. Fitted, warm, complete, and practical. Together with the dedicated jacket, it forms a coherent, understated, and aesthetic set for a very reasonable price.
