We tested the Atomic Vantage 90 Ti in two sizes: 169 and 176 cm. These type of skis must be chosen with the utmost care: a few centimeters more or less and their behavior, especially in the tail, changes. The skier’s build is also important: a hefty skier will be able to master these Atomic Vantage 90 Ti much better.
The Atomic Vantage 90 Ti have Titanium and are “tough”, responsive skis. You quickly get to know their powerful tail. If you don’t work on the skis, you lose control of their fluidity. But if you push the skis, on the edges at high speed, the Vantage 90 Ti ride powerfully on their radius (17.6 m in 169 cm or 18.4 m in 176 cm). It is not easy to change their radius, you must deal with their tail energy and anticipate. They are rather nervous skis that get tense but our first dominating impression is a feeling of firmness. You feel the presence of the front of the skis and you have to keep them in check.
On hard snow, they grip strongly on the edges: sheer joy. They deal with dynamic angles. They make the characteristic sound of the Vantage range, not annoying but recognizable among the masses. The tips chatter. They have powerful acceleration, you need technique to stay in control of these skis.
If you decide to ski in a more upright position, the Atomic Vantage 90 Ti are worry-free carving. On groomed snow and off-piste, they feel good thanks to easy pivoting. In deep snow, they lift out very quickly and easily. This makes it possible to lengthen the turns and ride at (very) sustained speed.
In choppy snow conditions the structure of the skis sends vibrations up the legs.
The Atomic Vantage 90 Ti are good all mountain skis that allow you to ski hard and find your limits in wide turns off piste. On piste, at high speed, they ride (tumble) very hard. They are super powerful skis, responsive, very well built, for tough skiers. Do not hesitate to play with the sizes.
