Bollé The One Premium

The designers at Bollé have been obsessive in the care they have taken in designing this road helmet, but with the addition of a visor, it instantly transforms into a MTB product.

This is a rather savvy product. The upper shells are removable, we go from an aero helmet to an ultra-ventilated one. However, you need to choose before setting out, we did try to remove the shells whilst riding and slip them into the jersey pocket, but it’s not possible: the plastic tips are too sharp. On the other hand, it’s very easy to do, the plates can be put in place or removed very quickly without needing tools.

At the rear of the helmet, you can add a led light that can be switched to a flashing light. Ditto, the led light is easy and quick to set up, you just need a pen to push up a plastic cover. The LED weighs 17g, you may as well leave it in place to be visible on the road. The led is tactile, no switch.

Still focusing on the customization of the Bollé The One Premium, it can be kitted out with a small visor. Again, this is easy to do, just remove the two protective side caps and clip on the visor.

There are two holes at the front for ventilation but, also serve as housing for your sunglasses arms if you want to wear them on the helmet. It is practical and easy to use (depending on the type of glasses you have).

But what we really appreciated is this helmet’s overall comfort: the distribution of the foam padding is well thought out and well-distributed adjustment. The rear knob doesn’t have the same smooth operation of a Boa system (the clips are a bit “rough”) but it works well. The One Premium fits snugly, the rear of your head is well protected. We didn’t notice any pressure points over a long period of time. The ventilation with the outer shells removed is excellent. For when it’s cold, the shells bring more comfort whilst still allowing some more limited ventilation.

The chin strap is easily adjustable, classic with efficient settings. We liked the lateral clips on the straps. A little protective fabric under the chin would add a little more comfort. The helmet weighs a suitable 260g and you don’t notice it whilst riding.

Beware of theh removable white shell pieces (they can be black, red …), they are a matt finish and get dirty quickly if you put your helmet upside down. Bollé delivers a very well-designed protective cover, with a breathable mesh section. Very practical, it can be worn like a small backpack. For cold excursions, Bollé also delivers The One Premium with a removable warm liner.

The Bollé The One Premium is a modular helmet that adapts to all types of conditions. Super comfortable, it allows you to use it in any seasons. An excellent product, with very careful workmanship.

    1. Robert says:

I have this helmet for over 3 years now and wear it on a daily basis for commuting and recreational cycling.
In the winter I do use the fleece liner.
This helmet is the best Ive had so far. The fit is perfect and it is easily adjusted for a tight fit.
You put it on as easily as putting on a beanie.

If had a crash with it. And broke a rib. Heavy damage to my bicycle. Landed on my head to and walked away.
It only scratched the shell a bit. Now waiting for a new one to be delivered.
