These Speedo paddles are designed for improving your hand entry technique and increasing the surface area of the fingers. So you must be careful to wear them correctly. Your fingers must not go past the end of the paddle.
The Biofuse Finger Paddles are a very useful tool for improving your hand entry into the water and searching for a strong pull underwater. Their limited surface area compared to big paddles has several advantages: your shoulders aren’t constrained which means tendinitis can be avoided (we did manage to get shoulder tendinitis after long sessions using a pull boy…) Another advantage is that it is closer to natural swimming sensations.
The attacking edge of the Biofuse Finger Paddle is enrobed with a soft and flexible material, the paddles therefore don’t transform into war weapons in the swimming lanes: so if by accident you do swat a passing swimmer in the lane next to you, you won’t do any damage. The central section of the paddle is more rigid but also has some flex therefore giving graduated flex in the pull and subsequently more comfort.
With first use you need to adjust the rubber attachments to the shape of your fingers, which takes a few lengths of the pool to get it right. The attachments are easy to handle. Their flat aspect on the top of the hand coupled with the soft material used makes them very comfortable to wear. NB: slide the middle finger in the main strap and not two fingers. The fixing system seems a little archaic but how can you do better or simpler? It needs to be adjustable, comfortable, water resistant, etc. We think that the stiffness of the large attachment (the one that holds all the fingers) is definitely a little too flexible, the hand has a tendency to lift up in the paddle, and you lose precision. This elastic also has a tendency to stretch after several pool sessions.
The Biofuse Finger Paddle is a beautiful “biodesign” and is practically indispensable for any swimmer wanting to improve their technique whilst increasing power and stamina, whilst also limiting shoulder injuries. All that at a limited price.
