The Patagonia Women’s R1 Air Zip-Neck keeps you warm — and does it with style. Its thoughtful cut and design make it comfortable and flattering enough to wear both outdoors and around town. But what really impressed us is its performance on the trail and in the mountains.
This lightweight fleece delivers solid thermal protection and pairs perfectly with the Patagonia Women’s Nano Puff Jacket, which we used during testing. Together, they form a highly effective combo for cold, non-extreme conditions.
Made from recycled polyester, the R1 Air’s fabric is exceptionally soft and pleasant against the skin. It has just enough stretch to move freely, whether you’re climbing, hiking, or layering up. Be sure to follow the care instructions carefullyto prevent pilling and to wash it regularly to avoid odor buildup. The fabric is delicate — watch out for snags on branches or rock.
The build quality is excellent: a zipper garage at the collar prevents chafing, the zip pull features a small cord loop for easy handling, and the cuffs are soft and comfortable. One note: if you wear a large GPS watch, the slim sleeves may feel a bit snug around the wrist. A small side pocket keeps keys or other essentials secure.
We weighed the R1 Air at 260 g (size M) — light enough to pack anywhere.
A stylish, ultra-soft fleece that works beautifully as a midlayer under a down or shell. Comfortable, technical, and responsibly made, the Patagonia Women’s R1 Air Zip-Neck is a versatile layer you’ll reach for again and again.
